Description
“Local Cola” is a collection of soft drink bottles, (smaller than half a liter) that imitate the world-renowned cola brand and are available for purchase in ordinary shops at a specific location, whether they are locally produced or imported. The collection can be presented in diverse ways depending on the exhibition space.
“«Local Cola» is also a sculptural piece made from the collection of these cola bottles that imitate the well-known multinational brand, but are produced marginally to the large multinational corporations. This work, which borders on ethnography, is infused with sardonic humor, a characteristic of Ridao’s art, and explores how a mass-produced consumer product transformed into the archetype of a carbonated drink. This transformation not only affects its status as a sign but also imposes itself as a naturalized element in our culture.”
